Piped gas supply has been halted across Gurgaon till Friday morning after a fire impacted pipelines between Ardee City’s Gate 2 and Wazirabad market.

Officials said a high-tension power line fell on two vehicles parked near the Sector 52 society, sparking a fire and triggering a blast — together, this damaged gas pipelines in the vicinity.

The fire started around 1.30 pm on Thursday and caused a three-hour power cut in the area; no casualties have been reported.

Sector 29 Fire Station Officer Jai Narayan told The Indian Express that 10 fire tenders arrived at the spot by 2.05 pm and doused the fire completely in two hours.

The Haryana City Gas technical team is working urgently to repair the damaged infrastructure, with officials anticipating restoration of supply by Friday morning, sources in the area’s Residents’ Welfare Association (RWA) were told.

When the emergency helpline of Haryana City Gas was dialled at 7.15 pm, customer care official Varun Rawat told The Indian Express, “After the fire was doused, our technicians reached the area and first waited for the impacted site and pipelines to cool down so they could begin work on fixing the affected pipes. They will try their best and not leave till the supply is restored. In another five hours, the work should be done. By morning, the supply should resume as it was before.”

He confirmed the extent of the piped gas supply shutdown: “All sectors, hotels and restaurants in Gurgaon have been impacted and their supply halted.”

Chaitali Mandhotra, a member of the Ardee City RWA, said they have not received any formal intimation from the authorities yet as to the exact time when the piped gas supply will be restored.

Piped gas supply, however, currently does not extend to houses in Ardee City and Palm Grove Heights, which lie around the Ardee City Mall where the fire and blast occurred.
