Mumbai Weather News Live Updates: Persistent rains continued to drench Mumbai on Wednesday morning with the city expected to see a wet week ahead. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for Mumbai and its neighbouring districts. In its forecast, the IMD stated that Mumbai city and its suburbs are likely to experience generally cloudy skies along with heavy rainfall on Wednesday. There’s a possibility of occasional gusty winds, reaching a speed of 40-50 kmph.
Mumbai recorded over 100 mm rain for the second consecutive day on Tuesday as heavy showers continued to batter the city. Over 200 mm rain has been recorded in Mumbai’s suburban belt over the past two days, ushering in respite for the city, which was languishing under a rain deficit, this month. A day earlier, the city woke up to overcast skies and heavy downpour with the IMD’s Santacruz observatory logging 108 mm rain between Monday and Tuesday morning, while the Colaba station recorded 40 mm rainfall.

Weather experts have attributed the resurgence of showers to active weather systems such as an upper air cyclonic circulation as well as an east-west trough. Further, a fresh low-pressure area is also expected to form over north Bay of Bengal around July 24.
