Maharashtra Mumbai News Live Updates: Maharashtra has suspended bus services to Karnataka following an attack on a Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) bus and its driver by pro-Kannada activists in Karnataka’ Chitradurga on Saturday. According to PTI, the face of the driver was blackened during the assault. The incident provoked Shiv Sena (UBT) workers in Maharashtra’s Kolhapur who tied party flags on a Karnataka bus and painted it black.

Language dispute re-surfaces: Before the attack in Chitradurga, a Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) bus conductor was allegedly assaulted in a village in Karnataka’s Belagavi after an altercation with two students for speaking in Kannada, not Marathi. Belagavi, home to a significant population of Marathi speakers, has been the focal point of a territorial dispute between the two states.

‘Illegal immigrants interfering in electoral process’: At the 65th convocation ceremony of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar on Saturday, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar said that illegal immigrants are interfering in the country’s electoral process, and there should be awareness about this. In an apparent reference to the crackdown and deportation of illegal immigrants in the US, he said every Indian should ask when this process would begin in our country.
