Chennai Super Kings have signed their third replacement of the season as Urvil Patel comes in for Vansh Bedi, the franchise announced on Monday.
Vansh, who served as the backup to MS Dhoni as wicketkeeper batter, didn’t get to play any game in season and will now miss the remainder of season due to a ligament tear in his left ankle.
His replacement, Urvil Patel made headlines in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy when he smashed a 28-ball century — the joint-fastest T20 hundred by an Indian — against Tripura.
The 26-year-old has featured in 47 T20 matches, scoring 1,162 runs. He was previously part of the Gujarat Titans squad in the 2023 season.
Patel joins CSK at his base price of Rs 30 lakh and is unlikely to get a game given the wicketkeeper slot being occupied already.
Say Yellove to Urvil Patel! 💪🏻💛
PS: This young lion has the joint fastest 💯 in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy to his credit!

This is third replacement for CSK in season where they are already eliminated with just two wins from 11 games.
Earlier, CSK signed teenage Mumbai sensation Ayush Mhatre after their captain Ruturaj Gaikwad was sidelined from the season after a shoulder injury.

Mhatre has been one of the few bright spots in otherwise a poor season for CSK.
The second replacement came when young pacer Gurjapneet Singh was sidelined due to injury and the team decided to bring in South African youngster Dewald Brevis to replace him. Part of the Mumbai Indians setup before, Brevis was released ahead of the 2025 auction and went unsold in the auction.
Eliminated from the playoff race, CSK are scheduled to face Kolkata Knight Riders, Rajasthan Royals and Gujarat Titans in their remaining fixtures.
