The Congress on Friday released its first list of 31 candidates for the upcoming Haryana Assembly elections. The party has fielded Olympian Vinesh Phogat, who joined the party earlier today, from Julana assembly constituency.
While former chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda will contest from Garhi Sampla-Kiloi seat, sitting MLA Mamman Khan has been fielded for the second time from Ferozepur Jhirka assembly constituency.
The Central Election Committee (CEC) of the Congress met earlier in the day to finalise the party candidates for Haryana polls. Party president Mallikarjun Kharge, former party chief Sonia Gandhi, party general secretary in-charge organisation K C Venugopal, All India Congress Committee (AICC) in-charge of Haryana Deepak Babaria and former chief minister of the state Bhupinder Singh Hooda, among others, attended the meeting.
