After ordering the deployment of the National Guard in Los Angeles, President Donald Trump appreciated the troops on doing a “great job” as massive protests and violent clashes continued over the federal raids on alleged immigration violations.
“Great job by the National Guard in Los Angeles after two days of violence, clashes and unrest,” Trump wrote in a post on Truth Social.
The move to deploy about 2,000 NG troops came two days after the tensions between immigration authorities and demonstrators soared. On Friday, US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officials conducted raids on multiple locations in the city, arresting 44 people. The officials were met with more protests outside an industrial park on Saturday.
California Governor Gavin Newsom, a Democrat, objected to the move to deploy troops, saying that Trump’s decision was “purposefully inflammatory and will only escalate tensions.” He added that the federal government was “moving to take over” the California national guard, adding “This is the wrong mission and will erode public trust.”
Despite the governor’s objection, the White House, in a statement, said that Trump’s move was to “address the lawlessness that has been allowed to fester” in California.
Calling out the Governor, along with the Mayor of California, Karen Bass, for their incompetency, Trump wrote: “We have an incompetent Governor (Newscum) and Mayor (Bass) who were, as usual (just look at how they handled the fires, and now their VERY SLOW PERMITTING disaster. Federal permitting is complete!), unable to to handle the task.”
‘Protesters not allowed to wear masks’
Trump, in his post, said protesters will not be allowed to wear masks.

“These Radical Left protests, by instigators and often paid troublemakers, will NOT BE TOLERATED. Also, from now on, MASKS WILL NOT BE ALLOWED to be worn at protests. What do these people have to hide, and why??? Again, thank you to the National Guard for a job well done!” he wrote.
