Five killed, six injured as mini bus hits truck on Rajkot-Limbdi highway: Police

At least five tourists were killed and six others were injured after a mini traveller bus rammed into a stationary dumper truck, said Surendranagar district police officials. The accident took place Sunday along the Rajkot-Limbdi Highway.

According to police, the incident took place around 5 pm at Navi Morvad village near Sayla along the highway when the mini traveller bus rammed into a stationary dumper truck from behind. The bodies were shifted to Sayla government hospital for post-mortem examination, said P B Jadeja, in-charge police inspector of Chuda police station, under whose jurisdiction the incident happened.

The injured have been rushed to a hospital in Surendranagar. Jadeja said that the victims are tourists from West Bengal and investigations are on to ascertain identities of the deceased and the injured.

The police are yet to ascertain the reason behind the accident and probe into the matter is underway.
