Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday said that the attack on tourists in Pahalgam is a sign that terrorism is nearing its end in Kashmir.

Accompanied by Assembly Speaker Satish Mahana, Chief Minister Adityanath on Thursday visited the ancestral home of 31-year-old Shubham Dwivedi, who was killed in the terror attack in Pahalgam, and assured the bereaved family of every possible support.

Shubham got married on February 12 this year.

The CM expressed deep sorrow, stating that Shubham was the only son of his family and had married just two months ago. “We pray for the peace of his soul and extend our heartfelt condolences to the grieving family,” the CM said.

Highlighting the Centre’s response to the attack, Adityanath said, “The final nail is being driven into the coffin of terrorism,” adding, “The entire country must unite in trust and determination to uphold our zero-tolerance policy and bring an end to extremism once and for all.”

“This government will crush the venomous fangs of terror with absolute resolve. Those involved in this conspiracy will face severe consequences, and the nation will witness it. The terrorists and their handlers will be punished for the barbarity inflicted upon Hindu women, stripping them of their sindoor in an act of inhuman cruelty. There should be no doubt about this,” he said.

Adityanath said, “This is a double engine government known to work with zero tolerance against militancy against such inhuman and savage acts. This is not one government that withdraws the cases lodged against terrorists and sees its votebank there as well.”

Dwivedi’s mortal remains arrived in Lucknow on Wednesday night and were later transported to Kanpur.
