Alleging that the ruling BJP was indulging in personal malice, Uttar Pradesh unit of the Congress has decided to hold statewide “Gandhian protest” across the state outside BJP office in each of the 75 districts in the state on April 25. It will be followed by a series of statewide “Samvidhan Bachao Rallies”, starting from Basti district in Purvanchal on April 28.

The decision was taken at the state Congress political affairs committee, which held its meeting in Lucknow on Wednesday. The meeting was attended by newly elected district and city heads in the presence of Congress General Secretary Avinash Pandey, state unit president Ajay Rai and others.

Communicating the message of the recently held All India Congress Committee session in Ahmedabad, AICC general secretary Avinash Pandey said that discipline and perfection are the basic mantras that make any organisation great. He said that the top leadership has expressed trust in all newly made district and city unit chiefs but this has increased their responsibilities as well.

He alleged that while BJP is doing politics by crossing all political limits, the government wants to break every limit in personal malice and is bent on doing it at any level.

Citing the recent ED probe into the National Herald case, he said that it makes it clear as to what extent the BJP government is bent on arbitrariness, alleging that “this entire case is a state-sponsored crime under the guise of law”.

He said that the ongoing investigations into the “fabricated” cases against Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra’s family were nothing but “a gross misuse of the state machinery”.

Pandey alleged that the BJP government at the Centre or in the state takes action by misusing constitutional institutions due to political bias.

The party also decided to start holding “Savidhan Bachao rallies” across the state, starting from Basti in Purvanchal on April 28. A senior party leader, who was part of the meeting said that it has been decided that the first rally would take place in each of the six zones, starting from Purvanchal and would then reach till the grass-root level. “This rally would continue till the grass root level in the months to come,” informed a party leader, adding that it would be addressed by senior party leaders.

The meeting began with condolences and tributes to the victims of Tuesday’s Kashmir attack. The party demanded that the Government should take strict action against the terrorists and find out the lacunae in the security.

Later in the day, Pandey said that while it was good to see the Home Minister visiting Kashmir, the “actual satisfaction would come when a solution is found and it is assured that such incidents are not repeated”.
