Border Security Force (BSF) personnel from the Konaban Border Outpost and the Tripura Police in a joint operation recently arrested a human trafficker from Radhanagar village in Tripura’s Sepahijala district.
A police officer informed Friday evening that they received a tip-off and arrested one Anjan Das, 47, from his residence and also seized a country-made pistol, one magazine, and three live rounds of ammunition.
A BSF officer later said that the individual is suspected to be involved in multiple cases of human trafficking and trans-border smuggling.
BSF also seized 415 kg of ganja and other contraband items worth Rs 34.74 lakh in separate operations on Friday, the officer added.

Earlier on Wednesday, a man sustained injuries after being hit by a non-lethal weapon fired by BSF while he was crossing the international border illegally in Sepahijala.
BSF apprehended 14 Bangladeshi infiltrators and two Indian touts in the last week in a series of operations along the border.
Several incidents of clashes between BSF and sugar smugglers have also been reported recently.

BSF has enhanced vigilance and intensified its domination along the international border in Tripura in recent months.
Tripura has an 856-km-long international border with Bangladesh, some patches of which are yet to be fenced.
