With Delhi government’s Delhi Skill and Entrepreneurship University (DSEU) planning to discontinue B Tech courses in three campuses because of low admissions, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) questioned the ruling Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) claims of an “education revolution” in Delhi.

As per an office order passed on Monday, courses in civil engineering mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, network engineering, and mechatronics engineering will be shut in the Ashok Vihar campus, PUSA campus, and the Okhla campus.
Students admitted in these campuses and courses will be able to choose a different branch or course, subject to availability, the order said.
The university offers engineering courses in 10 of its campuses across the city.

“It is a disgrace that the B Tech programme, typically one of the most sought-after courses, couldn’t even attract 20 students at DSEU campuses. This spectacular failure exposes (CM Arvind) Kejriwal’s education revolution for what it truly is — a monumental fraud,” leader of opposition in the Delhi Assembly, Vijender Gupta, said, adding that 60% seats across different DSEU campuses remained vacant this academic year.

The AAP, meanwhile, sought to highlight the state of education in BJP-ruled states.

“It’s a disgrace that after more than 20 years of BJP rule in Gujarat, 1,606 schools have only one teacher. In BJP-ruled Chhattisgarh, a recent video shows girl students in tears because their school has no teachers… In stark contrast, the AAP government is opening world-class schools in Delhi and Punjab, where government school students are now securing spots in prestigious institutes like IIT,” AAP said in a statement.
