In the last one month, since the onset of monsoon, over 3,000 people have faced evacuation and over 600 have been rescued in Gujarat. The state has received over 16 inches of rain since Friday. Devbhumi Dwarka had received the highest amount of rainfall in a day, at around five inches till 4 pm, Saturday, followed by Valsad which received around 4 inches of rain.
The state has witnessed the evacuation of 3,703 people and the rescue of 676 people since June 1, as heavy monsoon rains continue to lash multiple districts. With water levels rising rapidly in several low-lying areas, authorities have launched large-scale emergency response efforts across the state.
The highest number of evacuations in the last month have taken place in Bhavnagar district, where 2,308 residents were shifted to safer locations, according to a state government release. Other affected regions include Panchmahal (500), Surat (266), Vadodara (173), Surendranagar (134), Botad (117), Amreli (80), Narmada (79), Navsari (44), and Tapi (2), the release added.
Simultaneously, 676 people have been rescued from critical situations, primarily from areas submerged by heavy flooding or cut off due to waterlogging. Rescue figures include 434 from Surat, 128 from Bhavnagar, 69 from Amreli, 24 from Botad, along with others from Gandhinagar (7), Gir Somnath (6), Dahod (4), Sabarkantha (3), and Navsari (1).
As the monsoon continues to wreak havoc across Gujarat, the government has strengthened its emergency response by deploying a total of 33 active disaster response teams, comprising 13 National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams and 20 State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) platoons, across vulnerable districts as of Saturday.
Districts at high risk such as Rajkot, Surat, Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Bhavnagar, Junagadh, and Devbhumi Dwarka are among those where National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams have been stationed. Rajkot leads with the deployment of two NDRF teams, followed by one team each in several districts including Surat, Bhavnagar, Ahmedabad, Junagadh, Kutch, Patan, and Porbandar.
Meanwhile, 20 SDRF teams have been deployed across other districts, including two teams in Vadodara, and one team each in Ahmedabad, Anand, Bharuch, Gir Somnath, Jamnagar, Navsari, Panchmahal, Botad, and Tapi, among others, according to the release.

In addition to the forces that have been deployed, two NDRF teams have been kept on reserve in Vadodara while 13 more SDRF teams remain stationed at the state headquarters.
