Kolkata’s Asutosh College to introduce 25 skill-oriented certificate courses. Curated courses on Beekeeping, Ecotourism, and Vastu Shastra on offer

The Kolkata-based Asutosh College has introduced 25 skill-oriented certificate courses from this academic year.

According to college sources, these certificate courses will be conducted by different departments, and each course will be of 50 hours duration and spread over 12 weeks. Students of Asutosh College and those from other parts of West Bengal can enrol for the courses.

Speaking to The Indian Express, Dr Manas Kabi, Principal, Asutosh College, said, “We hope that if students study these certificate courses in addition to studying regular courses, it will enrich their future lives.”

He shared that the Zoology department will conduct the ‘Beekeeping and Management’ course. The course will explore traditional and modern methods that support sustainable and ethical beekeeping. The students will also be taught skills to harvest and market bee products such as honey and beeswax, among others.

The Botany department of the college will conduct the ‘Herbalism in Cosmetology, Aromatherapy and Yoga for Bioentrepreneurship’ course.

Festive offer

The course on ‘Wildlife Conservation and Ecotourism’ conducted by the Environmental Science Department will include hands-on field training, data analysis of modern technology in wildlife research, and a specialised module on wildlife photography.

The Sanskrit department has designed a course on ‘Vastu Shastra’. All courses will have a combination of physical and online classes.
