Actors Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor were seen rushing to the residence of her sister Karisma Kapoor after the news of her ex-husband Sunjay Kapur’s death broke. A video of them from outside Karisma Kapoor’s house has surfaced online.
The couple was seen quite devastated. While Saif Ali Khan was clicked, an emotional Kareena Kapoor avoided paps. In the video, they can be seen getting in their car to leave for Karisma’s house. Sunjay Kapur, 53, died of heart attack while playing polo. The industrialist was in London at the time of his death.
Earlier that evening, Karisma’s friends and actors Malaika Arora and Amrita Arora too arrived at her residence to offer their condolences.
Sanjay Kapur’s death was confirmed by actor and author Suhel Seth, who offered his condolences in an X post. He wrote, “Deeply saddened at the passing of @sunjaykapur: he passed away earlier today in England: a terrible loss and deepest condolences to his family and to his colleagues @sonacomstar…. Om Shanti.”

Shalini Passi, who is a close friend of Kapurs, told HT in an interview, “The news of Sunjay’s death is sad and shocking. It makes us realise the frivolity of our life and everything that we take so seriously… In a moment everything is gone. Sunjay’s family and our family are close friends…. I have known him and his family since I got married. He was somebody who was full of life. He was very enthusiastic about things he did, whether it was his business or playing polo…. He was somebody a lot of people looked up to as a role model.”
Karisma Kapoor married Sunjay Kapur back in 2003. The couple became parents to two children, a daughter Samaira and a son, Kiaan. However, the two parted ways just 11 years after their marriage in 2014. They finalised their divorce in 2016.
In 2017, Sunjay Kapur married model Priya Sachdev.
