Housefull 5 box office collection day 2: Akshay Kumar’s return to comedy with the fifth instalment of the popular franchise Housefull is proving to be fruitful for the actor. Despite receiving poor reviews, the film opened with Rs 24 crore, and jumped to Rs 30 crore on the second day, according to industry tracker Sacnilk.
The highly-awaited movie released with two different endings Housefull 5A and Housefull 5B on Friday. Both films are identical for over two hours, but the climax is different. Housefull 5 has already crossed the Rs 50 crore mark in India, within two days of its release. The film collected a total of Rs 54 crore so far.
On Saturday, Housefull 5A, which has been performing better, recorded an overall Hindi occupancy of 37.97%, with morning shows at 15.40%, afternoon at 40.50%, evening at 43.65%, and night shows peaking at 52.32%. Chennai reported the highest regional occupancy. In contrast, Housefull 5B saw a lower overall occupancy at 21.97%.

Housefull 5’s first day numbers marked the fourth-biggest opening in Akshay Kumar’s career after Mission Mangal (Rs 29.16 crore), Sooryavanshi (Rs 26.29 crore), and Gold (Rs 25.25 crore). The movie has also registered the highest opening when compared to his recent releases. The actor’s patriotic drama Sky Force collected Rs 12.25 crore on day 1 and went on to earn Rs 112 crore. On the other hand, Kesari Chapter 2 started at around Rs 7 crore, and ended up collecting around Rs 92 crore. However, both the films cannot be classified as box office hits because of the high budgets. It would be interesting to see if Housefull 5 is able to check the box.
