A 15-year-old student stabbed four fellow pupils during lunch break at a high school in France on Thursday, killing one and injuring three others.
According to police, the incident took place at the private Notre-Dame-de-Toutes-Aides high school in Nantes on the Atlantic coast.
The attacker was subdued by teachers before being arrested by police. Authorities said there is no indication of a terrorist motive.
“Solidarity with victims and the school community,” Education Minister Élisabeth Borne posted on X, adding that she and interior minister Bruno Retailleau were en route to the scene.
Fatal school attacks remain rare in France. Police and troops surrounded the school as investigations began.
