Telangana aims to leverage Miss World 2025 for promoting tourism, attracting investors

The Telangana government Tuesday held a high-level steering committee on preparations for the upcoming Miss World 2025 in Hyderabad. The committee deliberated on plans to showcase the state’s cultural heritage, modern infrastructure, and hospitality to an international audience while establishing it as a global cultural and economic exchange hub.

Miss World 2025, the 72nd edition of the beauty pageant, will be held from May 7 to 31.

During the meeting at Chowmahalla Palace, Special Chief Secretary K Ramakrishna Rao reiterated the state’s commitment to hosting a world-class event, stating, “Telangana is ready to welcome the world with open hearts and unparalleled hospitality. This is an opportunity to showcase our heritage and progress on a global stage.”

As per a government press release, the committee expressed confidence that the state’s meticulous preparations will deliver an unforgettable experience for participants and audiences worldwide. The meeting discussed event logistics and infrastructure, cultural showcases, security and safety, global promotion and branding, sustainability and community engagement, and inter-departmental coordination.

The committee, as per the release, deliberated on venue selection, ensuring world-class facilities at iconic locations to host the pageant’s various segments. It also placed emphasis on upgrading infrastructure, including transportation, accommodation, and connectivity, to provide a flawless experience for participants, organisers, and visitors, the release said.

The meeting discussed the need for robust security arrangements to ensure the safety of all participants and attendees, said the release. It also discussed coordination with law enforcement agencies and emergency services was prioritised to create a secure environment throughout the event. Strategies to leverage the Miss World platform for promoting Telangana’s tourism potential were reviewed, said the release.

The committee, the release said, explored collaborations with international media, digital campaigns, and partnerships to amplify the state’s visibility and attract tourists and investors. It also emphasised eco-friendly practices, such as waste management and sustainable event operations, to align with global standards.

Plans were also made to involve local communities, artisans, and youth to foster inclusivity and economic opportunities, as per the release. To ensure smooth execution, the committee stressed the importance of synergy among departments like tourism, culture, urban development, transport, and police. The release added that timelines and responsibilities were assigned to streamline efforts and meet international benchmarks.

This is the third time India is hosting Miss World. The last edition was also held in India, in Mumbai in 2024. Before that, India hosted it for the first time in 1996 in Bangalore.
