A dejected man killed his former girlfriend’s husband on a government bus in Karnataka on Saturday, police said, adding that he turned himself in after the incident.
The deceased has been identified as Gangadhar, a resident of Sagara in Shivamogga district, and the stabber as Preetham D’Souza. The attack occurred near the Sirsi Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) bus stand in Uttara Kannada district as the bus was beginning its journey towards Bengaluru.
A police officer said, “Preetham and Gangadhar’s wife had been in a love relationship for 10 years before. The woman, who was working in Bengaluru, married Gangadhar four months ago and avoided Preetham. Gangadhar and his wife, who had come from Bengaluru to attend a family programme, were returning on the bus when Preetham, also on board, picked a fight with Gangadhar and stabbed him to death.”
Gangadhar’s body has been shifted to the government hospital, and the Sirsi town police are questioning his wife as well in the case.
