After a man in a car “deliberately hit” them with his vehicle’s side mirror, a routine post-lunch stroll in Gurugram turned into a harrowing incident for three pedestrians. The man, who stopped his vehicle and got out of it, accused the pedestrians of breaking his side mirror, abused and threatened them, and demanded money.

According to a viral Reddit post, the incident happened in a busy area near a commercial hub.

“While walking, an Ertiga came from behind and intentionally ensured that the side mirror of the ertiga hits one of the person walking on the roads. The ertiga goes forward and stops. My friend and us, we thought that the driver stopped to apologise. Then the horror started- the person driving the car stepped outside and started abusing everyone that “tumhare baap ki road hai, mera shisha thodi diya”,” the post claimed.

The incident escalated after the driver in question continued to threaten the pedestrians. According to the onlookers, the driver appeared to be extorting money from the pedestrians. “If the bystanders and guards hadn’t intervened, the situation would have escalated and probably we 3 would have been beaten by the guy who was abusive and threatened to kill us. His main intention was to extort money from us. No body even asked whether my friend needed any medical help or is his hand alright,” the post said.

“Just wanted to alert all of you to be careful while you’re walking on the roads. It is apparently our responsibility to ensure that the vehicle coming from behind does not hit us and we have people around us to support us. God bless gurgaon,” the post read.

The post quickly gained traction, prompting mixed reactions from social media users. “How is this a scam, bro? Like he’s being pretty straightforward that he’s gonna beat you up… Where is the lie, the deceit?” a user wrote. “Don’t walk on the roads. Walk on the footpath. Enough drivers around in you never know what mood,” another user commented.

“Not a scam. Walking on the road with traffic coming from behind you, is simply foolish anyway. What if someone gets a stroke or an MI while behind the wheel. How will you know the car isn’t going to run over you,” a third user said.
