In just five days, over 28,000 people, aged 70 years and above, in Delhi have registered under the Ayushman Bharat Vaya Vandana Yojna that gives a health cover of Rs 10 lakh, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said on Saturday.

Flagging off a mobile van in Munirka to facilitate registrations under the health insurance scheme – which was launched in Delhi on April 28 – she said such vans will visit all 70 Assembly constituencies and conduct on-the-spot registrations.

“Mobile vans will operate in each of the 70 Assembly constituencies for registering eligible senior citizens. Applicants only need to carry their Aadhaar cards and mobile phones for registration and nothing else is required,” she said.

Under this scheme, registered senior citizens will receive free medical treatment up to Rs 10 lakh – Rs 5 lakh cover each provided by the Centre and the Delhi government.

“No one will need to make any advance payments at hospitals. Just present the Ayushman card and let treatment begin,” Gupta said.

Festive offer

The mobile vans will visit various locations, including public squares, resident welfare association complexes, and senior citizen associations, ensuring every eligible person is registered, she added.
